Interesting, but I’d have to agree. If something is only good to 34k, and it’s flown to 40k, can it be trusted? Good thing I never fly more than 1500′ in day :)Edward

Sugar motors can be flown at research days. The *only* motors that can be flown on NAR days are commercially certified motors.Edward

edward replied to the topic "29 mm record attempt build thread" – 6 years, 7 months ago
If you want to make another airframe I’ve got 24″ or so of 29mm motor tube that I’ve been making 29mm cases out of. I wonder how much difference a 29mm 5:1 Von Karman nosecone would make :)Edward

I’ve got some 29mm slimlines. They are 1 3/8″ diameter and 1.125″ long. Don’t know if it would work.Edward

Slicing a cylinder you should get an ellipse. In this case you’d be slicing the motor mount as your cylinder. Then you’d get your ellipse and could draw that and transfer it. 🙂 Just one way to do it -… Read more»

The Skyripper rings come from Smalley.com. They are a custom run that Todd does. He doesn’t have them for 75mm as there isn’t a 75mm line yet. I know there are a few floating around in the club from the… Read more»

It’s weather. You can’t predict it or control it. If one of us could we’d have more money than Bill Gates 🙂 You have to take the good with the bad. Saturday and Sunday look great for flights. Tomorrow might… Read more»

I think it would also be nice to have people GPS waypoint the landing points of their rockets. This coupled with weight, diameter and motor information could give us a good trend on where rockets are landing. I know at… Read more»

Last launch I was out looking for a rocket and Jon Skuba’s landed about 10′ from me over the fence to the north. Since the wind was blowing it around I picked it up and brought it back. It would… Read more»

What does the NCR GSE terminate in? I’ve got all the fittings to connect to 38mm and 54mm SRS and those terminate into 1/8 NPT. What do I need to connect to the fill hose?Edward

It is probably the air going over the fins. I know a BSD Thor will do that, even whistle if you get it going fast enough.Edward

Ranchers work extremely hard to put on a pound of meat. Making the cows run around will work that right off.
I’d think that if we genetically altered cows to be legless that would solve that problem… 8OEdward

If you want to add a ring this is what I did on my L1/2 rocket. I wanted a 3/8 bulkhead so I took two pieces of 3/16. I used a rounding router bit and used it on one edge… Read more»

edward replied to the topic "test stuff for rail buttons and motor casings" – 6 years, 7 months ago
I use Well Nuts. You can get them at Ace Hardware. You just drill a hole, put these in and then turn. They are rubber and expand against your airframe and keep them in place.Edward
