That should work fine. Flight should be around 1500-2000′. Make sure to upsize the chute to take about 12 lbs at 15-20fpsEdward

Loki motors seem to be very nice – I’ve seen a flew fly and have been very impressed 🙂 I like how the 54mm’s have the machined in thrust ring – nice touch.Edward

I’ve never really encountered that problem, though I can see that if you did do one on a lathe that if you turned the OD down and didn’t drill out your throat before re-chucking to turn the other face down… Read more»

That is a good idea. I’d probably be looking at a 1.5″ diameter plywood circle at the top. I’m going to bevel it 45 degrees to get it more profiled. I really like the idea. I’m wondering if instead of… Read more»

I started making sugar motors in PVC – all were core burners, about 6″ long in 1.5″ PVC. They’d burn a bit before producing useable thrust. Then I moved to using some standard 54mm cases and had much more thrust…. Read more»

Sugar motors are a great place to start! That is where I started. I’ve done those and AP and even though AP is easier from a process point of view not much can beat the nice thick smoke of sugar!Edward

I have one of the small deep fry pots from Walmart. Works amazing. With the sorbitol you just have to mix it in, and keep the temp correct and it will melt nicely. I’ve never added RIO because it already… Read more»
