The DC20 transmits at 2W power. The low end Rinos are .5W and the higher end Rinos can do 5W on GMRS.BTW, 1/4 wavelength sensitivities are around the 6″ range for FRS/GMRS, so ebay wiring is right in the ballpark… Read more»

Putting the antenna on a short cable, it can fit in a 3″ tube. By pulling the guts out of the rugged enclosure, I believe Mike said it would fit in a 54 or maybe 38mm. If Mike chimes in,… Read more»

At the launches (especially the larger ones), I think it would be wise to have the signup board for ANY radio transmitting equipment, be it Adept, Rocket Hunter, Walston, Garmin dog tracker, Garmin Rino, FRS radios, GMRS radios, etc.I haven’t… Read more»

I’m still not quite clear on it, I guess. I thought the existing code would do a fixed “low altitude main” deployment, and apogee was up to the user to figure out. I would like a single charge at apo,… Read more»

My preference (and likely that of the bulk of your buyers) is to have apogee dual deployment. Especially with altitude birds, motor delays just aren’t long enough and you want it to “pop at the top” (or past) to get… Read more»

Now that I want to see! Not that I’d see it once you pushed the button. That’s what I like to see, Warren, nothing half-assed. That’s fully assed!

I follow what you’re saying, Conway. I’m just trying to decide whether to top the booster with an open coupler and use the eyebolt closure, or to put the bulkhead in the coupler with a U-bolt. BTW, this is a… Read more»

More questions, diving into this as the noob: Has anyone ever seen a front closure unthread from the casing due to recovery harness attachment? It’s pretty straightforward to put a jamnut between the eyebolt and closure, but what about the… Read more»

I’m thinking of having the upper stage ignited by an altimeter located in the booster. I’ve heard that this this method is less desirable, but I’m not clear on why. Opinions? If your booster drag-separates, you’ve got no go for the… Read more»

Mike,You don’t want an altimeter in the booster. The PET will work great, since it’s dual, you can do both the separation charge and deployment charge.I was thinking further on the sustainer… Picture this, put the PET in the deployment… Read more»

I’ll be flying “Excess in Moderation” (LOC Fantom EXL) on probably an I300T with 6 F24W airstarts and DD. A bit “out there” for a L1 newbie. It should be cool whether successful or not. Other than that, I’m there… Read more»

The manual for my MAWD doesn’t specify the latch time, so I should just try it like you said. It certainly works out to cheaper than ematches (and LEUP free).Ken
