Actually John, I’d be just as happy with convolute-wound glass. Two 48″ x 4″ sticks and 12″ of coupler. How much for that?

Rolling tubes isn’t so hard. Rolling GOOD tubes, especially larger than 54mm is very difficult.I was hoping John that you would be a reliable source for PF tubing – I need about 7′ of 4″ carbon and 1′ of carbon… Read more»

I’ve come to the conclusion that Curtis is incorrigible. Not a single attempt at an order has come through in any kind of reasonable time frame. Nearly every one required multiple phone calls – some bordering on very nasty. A… Read more»

Hmmm… I like the idea of epoxying in a piece of arrow shaft or something. That would work on a lighter weight bird. You could even drill a hole through the airframe before inserting it and epoxying it into place.

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Little Dog Harness Attachment" – 6 years, 1 month ago
Yes Bret. Drill some 1/4″ or 3/8″ holes in the bulkhead.

Well, if not an eyebolt in the motor case, my other choice would be to build the booster section zipperless and install the eyebolt in the forward bulkhead.

Wilke still uses the free version of Rocksim 4.0 I think.

At least with Rocksim 7.x I’ve seen that the manual optimization works far better than the automatic. Rocksim 8 (paid for) doesn’t work on any of my systems at all.

Looks cool. I expect it would be quite heavy compared to an equivalent composite or paper/phenolic rocket.

I’ve seen carbon tubes fly that were a single wrap of 5.7oz fabric. You could nearly flatten it with your fingers, but it was rigid enough for an H motor. It is a matter of what you’re trying to do…. Read more»

John, without those extra hands and fingers in there holding things and mixing epoxy and such, I don’t think those jobs would have worked out nearly as well.By the way, be sure to bring unLeashed with you to the meeting,… Read more»

Yes. I made some 1/16″ plate from it a couple years ago for someone. Works just like plain fiberglass pretty much though I recall it being more like carbon as far as wetting it out – the epoxy didn’t soak… Read more»

I use teflon coated polyester fabric for peel-ply. Breather fabric is breather fabric – essentially the same as what quilters use to fill between the layers of their quilts.I use Fiberglast.com or Aircraft Spruce for my supplies. Good prices, quick… Read more»
