Easiest case design to work with is the Kosdon and AMW style snap ring case. Also, cases must be designed to fail axially, meaning that forward or rear closures should blow out in the event of overpressure, never the case…. Read more»

Unfortunately not. I do have some Hawk Mtn. 75mm FG tubing, but it is part of a kit that I am planning on building sometime this year. Perhaps it you have the right offer, I’d part with it.

I have it in hand Ed. It’s yours… retail price whatever that is. I have no idea what I paid for shipping, but I bought too much.

We have deflectors in the trailer for many of the pads (or at least we used to). One of our members (actually several) own substantial machine shops and could fab. new deflectors from scrap material. The shop I worked at… Read more»

I’ve never seen rail-flex to be an issue – try just flexing a 1010 rail sometime. The problem I think you’re seeing is a problem with the small pad bases. Compared to the moment-arm of leverage imposed by the length… Read more»

That has been the club’s position since we gave the Swingset to Art. We have equipment to handle up to 100# birds with ease – Hell, we flew the Delta II project off a straight 1010 rail and as I… Read more»

Once you get beyond about 12′, 1010 or 1515 rail is pretty much unmanageable in a wind unless it is backed by something to stiffen it. Hence we have launchers like Art’s Swing Set and Terry Lee’s trailer or more… Read more»

So the launch is scheduled for Sunday – any time frame? I really would love to see this fly and I can probably steal away for a few hours to come up if the weather looks like a go.

Isn’t it amazing what a committed group of individuals can accomplish? Of course, given the focus, we should all be committed – or given a job at ULA or SpaceX.

Sorry I didn’t get involved in this one guys – looking VERY impressive. Much more complicated than the Delta II and I for one am looking forward to seeing this fly. Still on sched for MHM?

Try Art Hoag, I believe he has two of the Missileworks radio rigs.

Adrian, you could also use that Missileworks wireless system to enable 2nd stage and 3rd stage ignition or to force recovery. That does make it a manual operation, but it is likely a viable option.

Last I checked we had some club members who are more than 6″ taller than I am and considerably more muscular. I won’t comment on waist size.

Doug uses 1515 rail, at least the last time I helped set up his pad.

If you’re using a 1515 rail, I still have several sets of 1515 buttons turned from 304L Stainless Steel. I’d be glad to donate them.
